Glos Memorial Park is a serene, lush green space situated at 142 E. Park Ave, Elmhurst, IL 60126. Its 94 acres are perfect for relaxation and offer you an escape from life at home or work with its trees that provide shade along long, winding trails where one can explore some of nature’s hidden mysteries, such as plants that have been around since before humans walked the Earth!
Glos Park is an urban oasis with a rose garden, mausoleum, and commemorative plaque. The Tree Towns Garden Guild takes care of the park’s gardens, while visitors can enjoy them in all seasons!
When you stroll through Glos Park, it feels like a journey back in time. You are surrounded by the beautiful roses of Lucy and Henry’s beloved garden as well as lush trees with leaves that rustle in the wind. The property is also home to Elmhurst’s first Village President, Henry L., who was loved by all for his giving nature and kind soul – this legacy lives on today not only because he donated land for an urban oasis but also because his wife gifted us her rose garden so we can enjoy them year-round.
The Glos Memorial Park Amenities are so enticing. As you walk through the park, it’s hard to help but pause by their Floral Display or take a sip from their new Drinking Fountain! These amenities make this tiny area of grass feel like an oasis in Midtown.
The City of Elmhurst has been trying to find the money and space for a park since the 1940s. With land donated in 1979, it took until 1981 before this rose garden was dedicated. The first thing that had happened with the property is they put an underpass on top of some more farmland–which left less room for flowers! When 1997 came around, they relocated their herb garden because there wasn’t enough room at Wilder Park anymore.
The Village of Elmhurst has always been a very proud community, evidenced by its history with the mausoleum. It was built in 1899, and it is on land owned by Henry Glos (born 1851), who had permission from his fellow villagers to build this structure which he did as an expression of love for Lucy Glos (1852 – 1941). The City gave the building historic landmark status after passing legislation allowing themselves to do so back in 2007.

Glos Memorial Park wants to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time while spending their day at the park, so they offer plenty of ways people can get involved: from adopting trees or giving children access to education programs about how parks impact wildlife habitats, there are many opportunities for volunteers!
