Voted by Chicago Magazine as the best Suburban Park in 1997, Wilder Park is a cultural hub that sits at the center of town. It’s home to Elmhurst Public Library, The Elmhurst Art Museum, and even houses its own conservatory! In 2008 it completed construction on an additional 14000 square foot space for district use with public access.
Wilder Park is Elmhurst’s prettiest garden spot, according to an article published in 1936. The park offers a beautiful view of the city and provides many recreational opportunities for visitors, such as hiking trails, biking paths, open green spaces where people can picnic or just relax under one of the trees that line Wilder Creek.
Wilder Park, though not very large in size or popularity among the locals of Elmhurst, IL, is still a beautiful place to be. The park offers guests 17.3 acres of open land and an abundance of trees that provide shade for visitors on hot days.
Wilder Park is situated near downtown Elmhurst Illinois thanks to its location at 175 South Prospect Avenue; however, being just 17.3 acres doesn’t really make this small piece o’ property all that popular with locals.
When the Wilder Park playground underwent a major renovation in 2011, Kids Around The World repainted and reconstructed the structures before transporting them to an undeveloped country for children in need of playgrounds.
The wilder park is a place for the family to spend time together. There are many amenities that make this possible such as, conservatory and drinking fountains that provide drinks where there may not be any sources of water around. The floral display has plants with flowers all over them, providing an experience like no other in order to help you relax or just enjoy your day out on one of their inviting benches surrounded by beautiful scenery while taking photos if they’d like to! In addition, the Butterflies Garden provides humans plenty of opportunities to see these delicate winged creatures up close without being harmed even more than nature intended- giving it its own spot here at Wilder Park ensures visitors will have another awesome reason why visiting would never disappoint.
Wilder Park provides visitors the opportunity to enjoy a variety of events and activities. Some examples are Adopt-A-Park, Concerts in the Park, Doggie Extravaganza Easter Hunt (both daytime & nighttime), Garden Walk with vendors selling plants, as well as handmade items from local crafters including Wilder Mansion Bridal Party or Weddings at this historic property that is available for private rental year-round.
